One of the pioneers of Laguna Beach surfing, Tom Morey is a true one of a kind. A fantastic surfer, designer, engineer and most widely known as the inventor of the boogie board. Tom’s connection with the ride runs deep and is a huge advocate of the finless glide. You can currently find Tom either designing new surf vessels or gigging around town behind his drum kit working it out with a collection of jazz savants.

Which words or phrases do you over use?

“bitchin’!”

Words to live by?

What talent would you most like to have?

Talent to wisely use the talents with which I’m already amply blessed.

What is your greatest achievement?

Yet to come.

What is your most treasured possession?

Marchia…but as far as material possessions go; everything is on loan to us for each brief lifetime, as is the case, I possess nothing.

What is your favorite thing about Laguna Beach?

Its location.

How has Laguna shaped who you are? And…how hasn’t it?

I’m the reflection of a beach culture, touched by expert surfers, fan of great musicians passing through, artists everywhere… plenty of convoluted humor resulting from this confluence of adventurous spirits. This enhances the thinking process. Ocean cycles, moderate weather…gave me a vigorous well-made body. I’m a very lucky guy!
